O.K. I'm not so sure that my first entry on this blog should be about chocolate donuts. But, what would this blog be if we didn't go there?
I was at Laird Park yesterday with some friends visiting while our children played. I was just looking over at THE great family home when all of a sudden, out of the blue, my friend said, "have you guys ever had one of those incredible chocolate donuts...you know the Dunford ones?" Of course, a smile came over my face as I said, "let me tell you about those incredible chocolate donuts...see that house over there?" As I talked about my grandparents, their children and grandchildren, my friends sat there listening to every word. We talked about what it is like to be a part of a BIG family, what it is like trying to stay connected, and of course the joys of having chocolate donuts be one of the crowning memories of our summer parties. As the conversation went on, we eventually got back to those incredible chocolate donuts my friend first mentioned.
We do have a wonderful family. I am so grateful to be a "Dunford" with all of you. I am proud to admit that I love donuts...and bread...and baked goods. Is this inherited or is just me? Seriously.
Love to all of you!

Right there with you, sister! It's not just you...though it may just be you and me.
ReplyDeleteOk Ginny you are the cutest thing!!! But it's not just you. Chocolate donuts are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE thing in the whole world. If I could eat a chocolate donut every single day...I just might. (but the hips won't allow it) So I save it for the best kind of treat in the world!~

Funny enough Mike and I were talking about chocolate donuts tonight. We were selfishly bemoaning the fact that our access to them would be more limited when Doug retires at the end of the month. Despite the upcoming donut decline, congratulations to Doug.
ReplyDeleteLong live the Dunford chocolate donut.
Joseph and I are now in Iowa, and I have friends that have talked about the chocolate Dunford Doughnuts...without realizing that I'm a Dunford! A few months ago my friend whose husband is in dental school with Joseph was going back to visit her family in Utah and she told me, "One of the things that I'm looking forward to most is getting a chocolate-chocolate Dunford doughnut!" I was thrilled!

I think this was a great first post Ginny. :) I'm in Young Women's in my ward and the night the bishopric comes up they will bring whatever dessert the girls want. Guess what the girls always choose. Yep, Dunford Doughnuts. Yummy stuff!
